A school in Cornwall is receiving mixed feedback from parents after announcing plans to reward students with 100% attendance.

Wadebridge School announced their "Zero club" policy on Facebook, inviting children with 100% attendance and good behaviour to the cinema on a school day.

But the policy has received mixed responses online, with parents raising concerns that children with legitimate illnesses will be punished unfairly.

One parent said: "This is getting ridiculous. Imagine punishing kids for been poorly, No wonder Mental Health's the highest it's ever been there's more to life than school."

Another commented: "Yet again penalising those who are genuinely ill, or have appointments for healthcare."

However, some took to the comment section to defend the move, arguing the cinema trip was a nice incentive to get children into school.

"I find this really interesting, I saw this and just thought how nice it was that there was some recognition for those children who turn up, do what they are asked to do and work hard," said one Facebook user.

Another posted: "This is a hard one. To be honest I agree with Wadebridge school. We have to encourage the children and give them incentive to do better or praise the children that have done well. "

We have approached Wadebridge School for a statement.
