New flights to Malaga, London and Dublin to launch from Newquay
Ryanair will be adding the three new routes to their summer schedule
Ryanair has announced three new routes for the Summer, with flights heading to Dublin, London-Stanstead and Malaga.
The airline will be introducing the three new routes, on top of two current routes, to support over 90 total jobs.
Ryanair DAC CEO Eddie Wilson said: "Ryanair is driving Cornwall’s economic recovery through our delivery of year-round tourism, regional investment and support of 90 local jobs".
Although Ryanair have said during the conference, they accept the UK Govt’s 50% APD cut for domestic travel from April ’23, they are now calling on the Prime Minister to completely abolish APD immediately for all travel.
They hope this will promote tourism and support much needed connectivity to the UK.
Ryan added: "It's to bring us up to 12.5% by 2028 and be carbon neutral by 2050. Is that quick enough? No it's not but we've got to make those strides particularly with sustainable aviation fuel.
"However, if we are to continue to grow and to drive real recovery, especially in regional UK, the UK Govt must immediately scrap APD in full for all travel (not just domestic travel) and provide incentives for airlines like Ryanair to stimulate growth and recovery for the UK (an island-based economy) and its regions, such as Cornwall".
Ryanair’s new Cornwall Airport Summer 2023 schedule will deliver over 25 weekly flights.
Cornwall Airport Newquay Managing Director, Sam O’Dwyer said: "We welcome Eddie Wilson and his team to Cornwall today and are delighted by their decision to add three new routes from Newquay for next year.
"We are committed to offering more options and choice for those wanting to travel to and from Cornwall. Malaga, in particular, is undoubtedly going to be a very popular addition to our network.
"We've recovered from Covid, we've gone from 125,000 passengers last year to 300,000 passengers this year. The more routes we have the more jobs we can provide and the more sustainable the airport becomes".
