Reports of child approached by stranger to look at dogs in back of van in Cornwall

Police are investigating claims of a man acting suspiciously on the Lizard in broad daylight

Police are investigating reports a stranger asked a child if he wanted to see dogs in the back of his van in Cornwall.

The young boy felt uncomfortable and left, before the incident on the Lizard was reported.

Officers say a man was behaving suspiciously near Cury Cross Lanes on Tuesday afternoon.

He is described as being around 30-years-old and having long, straggly hair and a beanie.

Devon & Cornwall Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious at around 4.30pm to come forward.

The force said: "Police have been informed of a male behaving suspiciously near Cury Cross Lanes at around 4.30pm on Tuesday 5th October.

"It was reported that a young boy was approached by a man in a van who asked if he’d like to see some dogs in the back of the van.

"The boy felt uncomfortable and left the area and the incident was later reported to police.

"The man is described as being a white male, around 30 years old, with long blond ‘straggly’ hair which had black in it.

"He was clean shaven and wearing black clothes and a black beanie hat.

"The van is described as a small white van with no rear windows and rusty in appearance.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone with information which may be relevant is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 175 6/10/21".
