Police are asking for witnesses after naming a young driver who died

Police have issued a fresh appeal after naming the young driver who died in a crash in west Cornwall.

19-year-old Alfie Beard from Helston lost his life at Porthleven on Tuesday night (2nd August).

The teenager's family paid a heartfelt tribute on Thursday, describing him as their "precious boy" and a "truly amazing person".

Officers want to hear from witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage after the collision on the A394.

It happened shortly after 10.30pm, closing the road through the night and into the following day.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Emergency services were called at 10.35pm to the A394 to reports of a collision involving a silver Mini Cooper

"Mr Beard (pictured) was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Officers from the Roads Policing Team attended alongside the fire and ambulance services.

"The road was closed overnight for officers to carry out a specialist examination of the scene.

"Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and appealing for witnesses to contact them. They are also keen to hear from anyone who may have relevant dashcam of the incident.
