A gardener from Redruth is raising money for a charity that helps people who work in horticulture... by stripping down to just his socks and boots!

Brett Donnelly, now known as 'The Naked Gardener', owns a local garden and property maintenance company and has created the calendar, with the help of his wife Maria.

Brett has suffered from health issues recently with his back, and has done it all to raise awareness that there is help out there for people who need it - with all of the profits of the quirky calendar going to the charity.

What started as a post in a Facebook gardening group for World Naked Gardening Day snowballed into this idea - with calendars since shipped as far away as the USA, Canada and Australia, as well as homes right here in the UK.

We're told the photos are 'all very tasteful', with the images taken by his wife in their own back garden, and then designed it all on some software at home.

'If only I'd known about them when I'd had my back operations!'

Brett has been a self employed gardener for well over a decade, now - and says if he had known about the charity he's raising funds for sooner, then he wouldn't have had to have taken to much time off following painful back surgery.

In a post on Facebook, Brett said: "A while back, for fun, I took part in World Naked Gardening Day.

"That's when someone suggested that I should create a calendar for charity, so with a lot of nagging from my wife, we have got some printed up by Redborne printers and box makers of Redruth, and now have some ready to sell.

"If only I’d known about them when I’d had my back operations! They are set up to help anyone in horticulture, with support both financially and giving advice for anyone struggling in the industry, whether it be with physical, financial, or mental issues.

"It would mean so much to me and I would be so grateful for any sales, so that I can raise as much for them as I possibly can."
