A person has died on railway tracks in Cornwall.

It is understood that they may have been in a collision with a train near Truro.

British Transport Police and paramedics were called to the line amid reports of a casualty on the tracks just after 10am on Thursday morning.

Sadly a person had died at the scene.

Officers say the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

"British Transport Police were called to the line near Truro at 10.15am today (10 June) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Inrix Traffic and Travel is reporting that services have been suspended between Penzance and Par.

"Service suspended on CrossCountry and Great Western Railway between Penzance and Par due to emergency services dealing with an incident at Truro. Tickets being accepted on local bus routes."
