Hundreds of people are expected to gather at Truro Cathedral on Monday, where The Queen's funeral will be shown on a large screen.

The service is being held at Westminster Abbey in London – the historic church where kings and queens are crowned. It is due to start at 11am on Monday 19th September.

The last state funeral was held for Sir Winston Churchill in 1965. The state funeral of George VI, Queen Elizabeth's father, took place in 1952.

Truro City Council has been reviewing and planning for all the arrangements required during the 10-day period of national mourning.

Following a review of all the options and taking into account operational and logistical constraints, Truro City Council, working with Truro Cathedral, has arranged for a large screen to be placed within Truro Cathedral on the day for those wishing to attend a public viewing.

The Mayor of Truro, Councillor Steven Webb, said: "I recognise that there are those in our community who wish to come together to watch the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and I am pleased to say that we have been able to arrange this working closely with the team at Truro Cathedral".

Roger Bush, Dean of Truro Cathedral, said: "There's been sadness. There's been one or two humorous times as well as people remember the times when they might have met The Queen and remembering that with fond affection and smiles. It's not a miserable sadness - it's a thankful sadness.

"And you can see the genuineness of the remembrance. She has been someone who has really established herself in the hearts and minds of so many different people, not just out of respect but out of love and affection as well for all that she has done".

He added: "In close association with Truro City Council, we are delighted to be able to live-stream The Queen's state funeral from the cathedral.

"Please note that on the day of the funeral - Monday 19th September - the doors will not be open until 10am.

On Sunday 18th September, Truro Cathedral held a Commemorative Service of Thanksgiving for Her Majesty, followed by a ceremony and minute's silence for the National Moment of Reflection.

A book of condolence is available for visitors to sign in the cathedral. There is also a digital book of condolence on the Royal Family website, as well as another on the Church of England website.
