Falmouth pub among those giving away free pints to mark Queen's Platinum Jubilee

A pub in Falmouth is among those giving away free pints to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
Brewer Greene King wanted to turn the clock back 70 years by selling its pints for 6p in a special promotion for today only (30th May).
Six pence is the average cost of a pint of beer back in 1952, the year Queen Elizabeth II took the throne.
Anyone visiting a Greene King Pub was told to use the secret code word ‘1952’ at the bar to claim the offer.
But the chain has now been told it is not allowed to price pints at 6p under licensing laws. So instead its pubs are giving away pints for free.
Greene King only has one pub in Cornwall, the Quayside Inn on Arwenack Street in Falmouth.

It comes as pubs and bars across England and Wales have been granted extended opening hours over the upcoming four-day Jubilee bank holiday.
From Thursday (2nd June) to Saturday (4th June) opening hours will be lengthened from 11pm to 1am.
