A Cornish pub has had to close until further notice after a fire broke out in the early hours of the morning.

Bosses at the Shipwrights Arms, Helford, say they have made the decision for the safety of staff and customers.

The blaze involved an electrical consumer unit and it was put out by firefighters.

It is understood that the cause is now being investigated.

In a post on Facebook, the pub said: "Sadly we are having to shut the Shipwrights until further notice.

"We have had a fire in the building, and whilst we are investigating the cause we have made the decision to shut for the safety of our staff and our customers.

"We are hoping we will be up and running soon!

"We would also like to say a massive thank you to those who came to help in the early hours this morning, and thankfully no one has been hurt!

"Updates will be posted as soon as we know, thanks for your understanding!"
