Prince William to be invited to address Cornwall Council as new Duke of Cornwall
A motion to write to William, Prince of Wales, will be tabled at next week's meeting

Prince William will be invited to Cornwall to meet with Cornwall councillors after being named the new Duke of Cornwall. The Prince was handed the role after his father ascended to the throne as King Charles III following the death of The Queen last week.
At a meeting of the full council at New County Hall next week, councillors will invite Prince William, who is also now The Prince of Wales, to address the council. The council will also welcome William and Kate as the new Duke and Duchess of Cornwall.
The agenda of next Wednesday's meeting states that the council will resolve to:
Welcome Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales as the new Duke and Duchess of Cornwall
Recognise the important constitutional role held by the Duke of Cornwall, together with the significant responsibility for the sustainable stewardship of the Duchy of Cornwall and the protection, promotion and celebration of Cornish identity, culture and heritage
Asks the Chairman of the Council to write on behalf of the Council to the new Duke of Cornwall offering condolences on the loss of his Grandmother and asking him to address the Council at his earliest opportunity to look at ways in which to continue to build the working relationship and outcomes previously set in place by his father, now King Charles III.
The Duchy of Cornwall is a private estate established by Edward III in 1337 to provide independent income to his son and heir to the throne, Prince Edward.
The Duchy owns 7,571 hectares of land in Cornwall and the estate is worth approximately ÂŁ1 billion.
Under the guidance of the former Duke of Cornwall – now King Charles III – it is the Duchy's responsibility to manage the estate in a way that is "sustainable, financially viable and of meaningful value to the local community", according to the Duchy of Cornwall website.
Like the King and Queen Consort, Camilla, did during their time as Duke and Duchess, Prince William and Kate Middleton are likely to make regular visits to the Duchy, for both private and in public engagements, to provide support to local organisations, businesses and communities as part of their new roles.
The former Duke of Cornwall also aimed to "nurture and improve the estate" to pass it on to future generations in a stronger and better condition. It is likely that Prince William will adopt his father’s philosophy in his new role.
When King Charles III and Camilla visited Cornwall, as they did very often in their former roles as Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, their official residence was Restormel Manor, located in Fowey Valley close to Lostwithiel.
Restormel, means “king's tower hill” in Cornish, and the 500 year-old mansion is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall.
It has welcomed Prince William, Kate and the Middleton family in the past, meaning it is likely the family will stay there during their future visits to the county.
The mansion comprises three wings and has five double bedrooms, four twin bedrooms, an indoor pool, a sauna and a tennis court. Private garden areas have also been created to the side and rear of Restormel Manor with views over parkland to the front and the River Fowey to the side and rear. When it is not used by the royals, it is a holiday let also available to the public and can accommodate up to 18 guests.
