Well that's something you don't see every day - President Biden's helicopter and aircraft over Cornwall!

Jessica Clotworthy from Redruth was among those who spotted the helicopter, that will be known as Marine One when President Biden is on board, in Cornwall ahead of the G7 Summit.

The chopper, flanked by what looked like V-22 Ospreys, was seen dropping down towards Tregenna Castle in St Ives last night (Monday 7th June).

They aircraft pictured taking off and landing at RNAS Culdrose, Cornwall Airport Newquay and St Michael's Mount as well.

Some residents even reported seeing them over Carlyon Bay near St Austell.

Andy Richards rushed to the window of his home in Carbis Bay when he heard the roar, which he described as thunderous!

He tells us the aircraft flew over several times throughout the course of the evening: "It's a deafening noise but it's quite a spectacle.

"When you get four coming over in quick succession in the flight path, it roars straight across the sky.

"The seagulls in the local area, they're up in the air enjoying the spectacle; I think they've been spooked this evening slightly,

"They must be almost like bouncing off the lawn at Tregenna, straight up again and back out so it looks like a well-precisioned exercise going on.

"They were in and out constantly during the course of the evening.

"It's just an amazing piece of machinery that's coming over - just amazing".

It is unclear exactly what President Joe Biden's aircraft were doing on Monday night, but it appeared to be some sort of training exercise.

The American leader is among those due to arrive in Cornwall for the G7 Summit at some point this week.

He is expected to fly into Cornwall Airport Newquay on Air Force One, before being taken to the St Ives area.

The Carbis Bay Hotel is hosting the three-day event, from the 11th - 13th June.

The Tregenna Castle Hotel is also playing a role, along with the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth which will host the world's media.
