Praise for Cornish fire crews following property blaze in Penzance town centre
Firefighters from St Just to St Dennis were called to help tackle the flames
Fire crews from across Cornwall have been praised following a property fire in Penzance town centre over the weekend.
Firefighters from St Just up to St Dennis were called to the scene on Market Jew Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The teams managed to use hose reel jets to put the flames out.
Police, paramedics and Western Power were also called to the scene.
"At 02:07 hrs this morning a number of 999 calls were received reporting a property fire.
"Initially appliances from Penzance, St Just, and St Ives were mobilised.
"On arrival crews confirmed that there was a fire and requested an additional three pumping appliances. Further appliances were mobilised from St Ives and Hayle, along with the incident command unit from St Just and operational support unit from Falmouth. As firefighters on scene commenced with firefighting operations.
"At 02:27 a further assistance message was made for two more pumping appliances and two aerial ladder platforms. Appliances from Tolvaddon were mobilised along with aerial ladder appliances from Truro and Newquay.
"The incident was sectorised and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
"Police, Ambulance, and Western Power were also on scene."

Cornwall's chief fire officer have praised all the crews from across the Duchy who were involved in the shout.
She said the rapid and safe deployment and good firefighting techniques helped to prevent the fire from spreading.
