Police to review response to 'illegal rave' with around 1,000 people in Cornwall
The majority of people have now left but officers remain on site
Police are going to review their response to an 'illegal rave' in north Cornwall which saw around 1,000 people attend at its peak.
We're told the unlicensed music event which ran across the long Jubilee weekend has now concluded but officers still remain at the site on Davidstow Moor.
Police were first called at around 10pm on Friday 3rd June following reports of around 200 cars seen on site and loud music being heard by nearby communities.
It is believed that around 1,000 people attended at the event’s peak with seven stages set up over a large area.
Police units including specialist public order officers were deployed to the scene where a cordon was put in place to contain the event and prevent further people from entering.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “The majority of people have left the site and police cordons were removed overnight.
“A number of people remain on site today and officers have been engaging with them.
“Many factors have to be considered when policing a live and dynamic situation and our priority is always to ensure the safety of those involved, people in the surrounding areas and our officers.
“As is standard practice, we will review the policing response to this event in due course.
“We will continue to work with partners to offer support and guidance to those affected.”
Around 10 arrests for drink/drug and driving offences were made over the weekend. These individuals have been released from police custody pending further enquiries.
