Police reassure public Penzance 'assault' was an isolated incident

Police are reassuring the public that a suspected assault in Penzance is believed to be an isolated incident.

Officers were called at 3.15pm on Monday 16th May to Jennings Street, following reports of a possible assault.

It was reported that two men had been assaulted and they were taken to hospital to receive treatment for their injuries, which were not treated as life-threatening or changing.

A police cordon was established in Penzance and was later stood down after initial enquiries were completed at the scene.

A Devon & Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “We are continuing to follow a number of enquiries in relation to this matter and are working to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

"We want to reassure the public that we believe that this was an isolated incident and we are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed anything which may assist our investigation is asked to please, get in touch.”
