Police patrols across Cornwall following England's Euro 2020 final
Officers in the Duchy are breathalysing road users as they clamp down on drink-driving
Police are carrying out extra patrols across Cornwall following England's Euro 2020 final.
Unfortunately football is not coming home, after Gareth Southgate's squad lost out to Italy last night, 3-2 on penalties.
But Devon and Cornwall Police are still urging football fans who were watching the game not to get behind the wheel to soon, if they were drinking alcohol during the match.
Road users are being breathalysed this morning as officers clamp down on potential drink-driving.
"The reality is, if you have had a few to drink it can take many hours before you are no longer under the influence and are fit to be on the road.
"If you are over the limit and behind the wheel you run the risk of being involved in a collision which can ruin lives; you risk losing your job, be landed with a criminal record and could even face time in prison.
"My officers will be visible and patrolling on Monday morning and we will breathalyse road users.
"We also breathalyse those involved in any incident even if it is a minor, non-injury collision as a matter of course. Don’t risk it, be sensible and show some restraint."

It comes as the Metropolitan Police say they are investigating a number of offensive and racist social media posts aimed at England footballers after last night's Euro 2020 final.
Scotland Yard says it's 'totally unacceptable' and 'will not be tolerated'.
England tweeted their disgust, saying the players 'have given everything for the shirt this summer'.
The FA has called a group of people who forced their way into Wembley Stadium last night an 'embarrassment to the England team'.
They broke through barriers and pushed past stewards ahead of the Euro 2020 final and officials say they'll take action against anyone identified as having got into the ground illegally.
49 people have been arrested while attending events for the match in London and 19 officers were injured during confrontations with the crowd.
