Biker who died in A390 crash in Cornwall is named by police

A motorbike rider who died in a crash on the A390 in Cornwall has been named as Benjamin Lavender.

Officers were called to the Lostwithiel area just before 12.10pm on Wednesday 4th May.

A white Suzuki motorbike and a black Peugeot people carrier had been involved in a collision at the junction with the B3269.

39-year-old Benjamin Lavender, from the St Austell area, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The occupants of the Peugeot were unharmed and stopped at the scene.

Police investigating the collision are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A Devon & Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Officers from the Roads Policing Team attended the collision to investigate and establish how the collision occurred.

"The road was closed for seven hours while this took place and police would like to thank the public for their patience.

"The police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information or dashcam footage which may have captured either vehicle prior to the collision that could help with their enquiries."
