Police launch rape investigation in Penzance

A woman is being supported by specialist officers and a man had been arrested

Police have launched a rape investigation in Penzance and say a woman is being supported by specialist officers.

The incident happened at an address in Market Jew Street in the early hours of Sunday 13th February.

On Wednesday evening, Devon & Cornwall Police confirmed a man in his early 30s had been arrested.

The force said he remains in custody as they continue their investigation.

In a statement, police said: "Police officers investigating the rape of a woman at an address in Market Jew Street, Penzance, during the early hours of Sunday 13th February have today arrested a man in his 30s.

"The man remains in police custody at this time while the investigation continues.

"The victim is being supported by specially trained officers".
