Police investigating serious sexual assault in Truro

Devon and Cornwall Police tell us they're investigating reports of a serious sexual assault in Truro.

It happened in the early hours of Sunday morning at a property in Lemon Quay - which was closed off for a short time for investigations.

A man in his 40s was arrested and remains in police custody while his victim is being supported by specialist officers.

In a statement, a spokesperson from the Devon and Cornwall force said: "Police are investigating reports of a serious sexual assault in Truro on Sunday 21 May.

"The incident is reported to have taken place within a property in Lemon Quay in the early hours of the morning. This is understood to be an isolated incident.

"The victim, a man in his 20s, is being supported by specialist officers.

"A man in his 40s from Truro was arrested in connection to the investigation and remains in police custody.

"Officers closed off an area in Lemon Quay whilst initial enquiries were carried out at the scene and this process remains ongoing."
