Officers are reassuring the public that there is no wider cause for concern
Police are investigating reports that a woman with a child was threatened in Wadebridge town centre.
Officers say the offence is alleged to have taken place near the Spar shop in The Platt on the afternoon of Tuesday 9th September, and continued in the Co-op car park.
It is understood that the people involved are known to each other and police say there is no wider cause for concern.
An appeal has gone out for witnesses with anyone who saw what happened being asked to come forward.
A local man in his 30s was arrested and bailed until the end of October.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police investigating a report that a woman was threatened by a man in Wadebridge on Tuesday 9 September are appealing for witnesses.
"The incident happened at around 2.10pm near Spar in The Platt and continued a short time later in the Co-Op car park.
"Officers are urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything that may assist with their enquiries to come forward.
"The woman, who was with a child, was allegedly threatened at the front of the Spar shop and then again behind Boots, in the Co-Op park, while she was in her vehicle.
"It is believed the parties involved are known to each other and police would like to reassure the public there is no wider cause for concern.
"A local man aged in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of making threats. He has been released on police bail until 27 October while enquiries continue."
