Police are searching for a driver who allegedly unbolted a barrier and drove the wrong way down the A30 after a fatal crash.

It is understood they were stuck in queuing traffic after the incident at Lifton.

A recovery truck and a tractor collided on Saturday afternoon.

A driver in his 20s died and a passenger was seriously injured.

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw either incident, or who has dashcam footage, to come forward.

"Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage of a driver who got out of his vehicle at a road closure on the A30 at Liftondown, West Devon, dismantled the barrier, and drove through.

"The incident occurred at around 2.30pm on Saturday 6th March, at the scene of a fatal road collision which had occurred less than two hours before.

"The man undid the bolts from the central reservation barrier and drove off on the opposite side of the road.

"It is understood there was a long queue of stationary traffic and officers are appealing to anyone who saw the man, or has relevant dashcam footage, to get in touch".
