Missing man in crisis found in Cornwall thanks to police helicopter

Crews managed to locate him in woodland and guide officers to the scene

A missing man in Cornwall has been found safe thanks to a police helicopter.

The individual was in crisis and had been missing for nine hours on Tuesday (28th December).

The South West National Police Air Service managed to locate him in woodland, using cameras and thermal imaging technology, and guided officers to him.

It has been confirmed he is getting the care he needs.

The police crew are being praised for their efforts in bringing in home.

Footage of the incident has been released, including the moment the man was found, and you can watch it below:

NPAS South West posted on Twitter: "Watch the moment one of our aircraft locates a missing man this afternoon in Cornwall.

"He was in crisis and had been missing for 9 hours when NPAS 44 located him in woodland and guided officers to him.

"As always, a fantastic team effort from all to bring someone home."

CoastSafe shared the video and added: "On a bank holiday with minimum staffing we’d have never have found him without your assistance NPAS South West.

"Great spot, well done crew, his family say thank-you

"Getting the care he needs now."
