Murder investigation in Helston: Police appeal for witnesses to report 'suspicious activity'

Police, leading a murder investigation after the death of a woman in Helston, have launched an appeal.

The 62-year-old was found dead at a property on Meneage Road on Tuesday morning.

Officers say she had suffered a single laceration wound.

They want to hear from anyone who saw something suspicious in the Greenbank, Bullock Lane and Meneage Street areas between Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101, quoting log 128 of 25th May 2021.

A 24-year-old man of no fixed abode in Helston, who was known to the woman, was arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday.

"Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of a woman in her home on Meneage Road, Helston.

"Police were called to the address at 8.30am yesterday, Tuesday 25 May, with a report of concern for a woman.

"Police attended with ambulance paramedics and a 62-year-old woman was found with a laceration wound and declared deceased upon arrival. Her next-of-kin have been informed.

"Following extensive enquiries throughout yesterday and today, a 24-year-old man of no-fixed-abode, Helston – who was known to the deceased – was arrested in the town this morning.

"Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity, or anything out of the ordinary, in the Greenbank, Bullock Lane and Meneage Street areas of Helston between the evening of Monday 24 May and the morning of Tuesday 25 May.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 or via email 101@dc.police.uk and quote log 128, 25/05/2021".
