Police appeal following assault in Newquay

A man was arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and released on bail

Police investigating an assault in Newquay on Saturday 4 February are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Officers were called to reports of a crash involving a van and a pedestrian and a further report of an assault in the street, near the Co-Op in Henver Road, at around 10.05am.

The victim, a local man in his 40s, sustained minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment.

A 25-year-old man from Newquay was arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and released on police bail to return on Friday 17 March.

The suspect and the victim are believed to be known to each other.
