Police appeal after fatal crash in south-east Cornwall

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a fatal crash in south-east Cornwall.

A 19-year-old man who died following the collision at Torpoint has now been named as Royal Navy sailor, Kyran Carney.

Four other people were taken to Derriford Hospital with life-threatening injuries, including a local woman in her 80s who suffered life-threatening injuries.

The incident happened on the A374 at around 2.30pm on Friday afternoon (7th October).

Devon & Cornwall Police are urging anyone with information to contact the force. quoting log 480 0f 7th October.

A force spokesperson said: "Police investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the A374 at Torpoint on Friday 7th October are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

"Officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a black Renault Clio and a black Kia Rio at around 2.30pm.

"As a result of the collision, a 19-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed".

They continued: "Officers from the Roads Policing Team and Serious Collision Investigation Team attended to conduct a thorough investigation to establish how the collision occurred.

"The road was handed to highways at around 1am on Saturday 8th October".

Officers added: "If you witnessed the incident or have any information or dashcam footage that could help with enquiries, please contact police via our website or by calling 101, quoting log number 480 of 07/10/22".

A man, 20, was arrested on suspicion of causing both death and serious injury by dangerous driving and has since been released under investigation.
