Police currently responding to an armed robbery in Jelbert Way, Penzance, are appealing for witnesses and information.

Officers were called at 10.18am to the area outside Sainsburys following a report that a man with a knife had taken cash from a security guard.

The man took the bags and fled the area on a moped.

Devon and Cornwall Police say the incident occurred at a cash in transit van which was attending the store and parked in the car park.

The security guard was reported to be exiting the rear of the vehicle when approached by the man.

Police have released these pictures of a man they want to trace:

The moped is described as small and black with white stripes on the back. It also had an ‘L’ plate on the back.

The rider is believed to be a man over 6ft tall and he was wearing black leathers, a balaclava and a black bike helmet.

Anyone who sees a person or bike matching the above descriptions is asked not to approach and to call police on 999 immediately, quoting log 265 of 20/6/24.

Anyone who was in the area and has dash cam footage or witnessed the incident is asked to report it to police.
