Person dies on railway line in Cornwall

Emergency services were called to St Austell Railway Station around 8.20am.

Police have confirmed a person has died on a railway line in Cornwall.

It happened near St Austell Railway Station around 8.20am.

Trains were stopped between Penzance and Plymouth while British Transport Police were at the scene.

The line has now re-opened.

In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 8.20am this morning near St Austell Railway Station.

"Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner. "
