A woman has suffered potentially life-threatening injuries following a crash in Penzance.

It is reported that a car ended up on its side in the promenade area on Wednesday evening.

The female driver was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

Several roads in the area were closed whilst investigations were carried out.

Anyone who saw what happened or with information is asked to contact officers.

"Police were called to reports of a car on its side in Promenade, Penzance, just before 6pm, on Wednesday 7th April.

"A woman driver was taken to Derriford Hospital, in Plymouth, by air ambulance, with life-threatening injuries.

"Several roads were closed as a result of the incident, to allow for investigations to be carried out and for the vehicle to be recovered. They were reopened again soon after 4am."
