89-year-old man who went missing in Falmouth has died

Christopher Brookes was found after a mullti-agency search, but passed away in hospital

A pensioner who went missing in Falmouth, triggering a multi-agency search, has died.

Christopher Brookes failed to return home after his usual walk on Thursday evening.

Police, helicopters, Coastguard teams, the RNLI and specialist search teams worked through the night.

The 89-year-old was found on Friday morning but, sadly, he passed away after being taken to hospital.

Close family were at his bedside and they have since posted on Facebook to thank everyone who was involved in the search.

West Cornwall Search and Rescue Team shared the tragic news on social media, saying their thoughts are with Christopher Brookes' family and friends.

"The family of a pensioner who went missing last night have issued a sad update. Mr Brookes passed away in hospital earlier today with close family by his side.

"Everyone at West Cornwall Search & Rescue Team shares our deepest condolences to Mr Brookes' family and friends".
