Pedestrian taken to hospital following crash in centre of Hayle

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with what are believed to be serious injuries following a crash in Hayle.

Police were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a person on Fore Street just before 4pm on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services are currently on the scene and the road has been closed.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 3.55pm to Fore Street, Hayle, following reports of a collision involving a car a pedestrian.

"The female pedestrian is believed to have sustained serious injuries and has been taken to hospital.

"The road has been closed whilst emergency services remain at the scene.

"The incident is ongoing."

It is being reported that the road is not currently passable.

Inrix Traffic and Travel says: "Fore Street in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident between The fire station and Cornubia Inn.

"Affecting traffic through Copperhouse."
