Passenger of suspected drink driver arrested after "disgusting" abuse to Cornwall police
An inspector says one officer was kicked and another threatened
The passenger of a suspected drink driver has been arrested, after what has been described as "disgusting" and "not acceptable" abuse towards Bodmin Police.
A senior inspector for Bodmin and Wadebridge tweeted to say one officer was kicked, while another was threatened with being spat at and headbutted.
The incident happened on Tuesday night (26 April) and is said to have involved racist abuse.
Posting on Twitter, Inspector Regie Butler-Card : "Last night whilst arresting a drink-driver, female passenger became abusive to #Bodmin #Police officers.
"The abuse was disgusting, foul language and racist abuse.
"Kicked one officer. This is not acceptable.”
Inspector Card has since confirmed that a woman has been released under investigation.
