Two people trapped after car flips onto roof in crash near Launceston

They were rescued by firefighters and checked over by paramedics

Two people have been rescued after a car flipped onto its roof in a crash near Launceston.

Police say they were trapped inside the vehicle after the collision happened on the A388 just before 3.25pm on Wednesday afternoon (2nd March).

Emergency services were called to the scene and the pair were released by firefighters.

They were then transferred into the care of the ambulance service.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "The car ended up on its roof with a man and a woman trapped inside.

"They were extracted by the fire service and checked over by ambulance at the scene.

"The road was blocked in both directions but one lane is now open. Callington-bound traffic is being diverted via Stourscombe.

"Recovery are on scene."

A Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: "Two appliances from Launceston responded to this incident.

"On arrival a single vehicle road traffic collision was discovered with two persons trapped.

"Firefighters used small tools to release the persons who were transferred into the care of the ambulance service.

"The police were also in attendance at this incident."
