Orange paint has been sprayed over two buildings on the Penryn university campus.

Campaign group Just Stop Oil has claimed responsibility, saying paint was sprayed over two buildings on the campus - Falmouth University's The Link, and Exeter Uni's Stella Turk building.

It follows a similar incident at the University of Exeter yesterday, as part of its ongoing campaign calling for the Government to end planned new oil and gas projects.

"Students should be able to study in peace"

In response, Falmouth University said, "This morning, there was a peaceful demonstration on Penryn Campus. We respect peaceful and lawful protest; however, this event was escalated by a small number of individuals who caused criminal damage to two buildings.

"This will now be investigated by police and through our internal processes."

A University of Exeter spokesperson told us, "We respect the right to protest, provided it is conducted safely, respectfully and within the boundaries of the law.”

Devon and Cornwall Police say officers will carry out enquiries in relation to this matter.

In a statement, Falmouth's MP Cherilyn Mackrory said "Students should be able to study in peace without having to deal with these eco-zealots."
