One of lowest weekend totals of new Covid cases in Cornwall since start of pandemic
32 were confirmed in the Duchy and Isles of Scilly, taking the overall total to more than 13,500
The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly increased by 32 over the weekend, official figures show.
Public Health England figures show that 13,659 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Monday (March 1) in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, up from 13,627 the same time on Friday.
However, that is one of the lowest weekend totals for new confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.
The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests - those carried out by commercial partners - alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.
The rate of infection in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly now stands at 2,389 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 6,508.
Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 18,924 over the period, to 4,182,009.
Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly's cases were among the 211,035 recorded across the South West, a figure which rose by 880 over the period.
Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
