'Number of possible explosive devices' found in vehicle in Cornish village

Police have released an updated following an incident in St Dennis, confirming a 'number of possible explosive devices' were found in a vehicle.

Officers got the call to Penwyn Garage on Hendra Road on Tuesday afternoon following reports of a domestic incident.

A cordon was out in place at the scene and the Royal Navy bomb squad was called to make the items safe.

A 30-year-old man from St Austell was arrested and remains in custody.

A spokesperson for Devon & Cornwall Police said: "Following reports of a domestic incident in St Austell shortly before 11am on Tuesday 14th December, officers stopped a vehicle at Penwyn Garage on Hendra Road.

"Within the vehicle officers located a number of possible explosive devices. The Royal Navy EOD attended and assessed the items which were made safe. A cordon and scene guard were put in place whilst the emergency services were at the scene.

"A 30-year-old man from St Austell was arrested in connection to this incident and he remains in police custody at this time.

"Enquiries remain ongoing in relation to this matter."
