Hotel in Newquay evacuated amid reports of 'smell of burning'

A hotel in Newquay has been fully evacuated following reports of a smell of smoke.
Firefighters got the shout to the town at around 5.40pm on Friday evening (15th October) after receiving a call about a smell of burning coming from the building.
Crews from Newquay, Perranporth and Truro are on the scene and have called in back-up from St Dennis, St Columb Major, St Austell and Launceston.
It is not yet known if the fire is serious or how it started.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "Our Critical Control Centre received a call from a hotel in Newquay at 1740hrs reporting a smell of burning coming from an area of the hotel.
"Crews from Newquay, Perranporth and Truro were immediately mobilised. On arrival and first investigation an additional two appliances were requested which have come from St Dennis and St Columb Major.
"Staff from the hotel have completed a full evacuation of the hotel.
"Further information will be available as soon as possible."
