Murder investigation after death of elderly woman in Cornish village

Police have launched a murder investigation after the death of an elderly woman in Mullion.

They were sent to an address at Laflouder Fields on Saturday morning, following a call from paramedics.

Tragically, a woman in her 80s was found dead at the scene.

Her family has been told but Devon & Cornwall Police say formal identification is yet to take place.

An 84-year-old man from Helston has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

"Police have launched a murder enquiry following the death of a woman in the Mullion area on Saturday 29th May.

"Officers were called by the ambulance service to an address at Laflouder Fields shortly after 11am following reports of concern for welfare.

"A woman in her 80s was confirmed deceased at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and formal identification is yet to take place.

"An 84-year-old man from Helston has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody at this time.

"Scenes of crime officers remain at the scene and a police cordon is in place whilst enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with information which may assist the investigation is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 411 29/5/21".
