Man charged with murder after death of woman in Cornish village

Police have confirmed 44-year-old Sally Poynton was found at her home in Crowlas on Tuesday morning

A man has been charged with murder after the death of a woman in west Cornwall.

44-year-old Sally Poynton was found at her home in Crowlas on Tuesday morning (22nd June).

Jacob Poynton-Whiting from the village was arrested later that day.

The 22-year-old is also accused of inflicting GBH without intent on an 18-year-old man.

He appeared before Truro Magistrates Court on Thursday and is now due before Truro Crown Court in July.

"A man has been charged in connection with the death of a woman in West Cornwall.

"Police were called to an isolated address in Crowlas, near Penzance, at 7am on Tuesday 22nd June following reports of a suspicious death.

"The woman, now formally identified as 44-year-old Sally Poynton, was confirmed deceased at the scene.

"Jacob Poynton-Whiting, 22, of Crowlas, has been charged with murder in connection to this incident.

"He has also been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent on an 18-year-old man during the same incident.

"Poynton-Whiting remains in police custody and is due before Truro Magistrates' Court today 24th June".
