Firefighters from across west Cornwall have spent the night battling a big blaze at a village near Truro.

Critical Control received multiple calls as flames tore through an outbuilding at Tresillian.

Crews from the city, Perranporth and Falmouth rushed to the scene shortly after 11.30pm on Tuesday 11th January.

Teams wearing specialist breathing equipment used hose reel jets to tackle the fire.

Western Power were also called out, however there have been no reports of any injuries.

In their most recent update, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said the incident was being scaled back and two whole time officers remained at the scene.

They said: "At 23:22 on 11/01/22, multiple calls were received informing Critical Control of a fire in an outbuilding of a residential address in Tresillian.

"In total, four appliances attended this incident, coming from Truro, Perranporth and Falmouth Community Fire Stations. A whole time officer also attended.

"On arrival, crews confirmed a single storey timber building measuring approximately 10 metres by six metres well alight.

"Crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used two hose reel jets to fight the fire.

"Western Power were also informed and attended.

"At this stage, the incident has scaled back and two appliances and a whole time officer remain on scene at the fire".

At 6.30am, Cornwall Fire and Rescue confirmed crews had returned to their home stations.
