A motorcyclist in his 50s has died after a serious crash near Helston.

Police have confirmed a 51-year-old man lost his life following a collision involving a car.

It happened on the A3083 on Sunday afternoon (1st August).

The stretch between the junctions for Cury and Garras remained closed for over eight hours.

Devon & Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw something just before 2.45pm to come forward.

Police said: “At approximately 1440hrs on Sunday 1st August 2021 police received a report of a road traffic collision involving a motorcyclist and a car on the A3083, Helston.

“The motorcyclist, a 51 year old male, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“The road was closed in both directions whilst the scene was examined by a specialist forensic collision investigator.

“Officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team attended and are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision, or have dash camera footage, to contact police, quoting the log number 615 01/08/21”.

The road was closed for accident investigation work until after 10pm on Sunday 1st August, but has since reopened.
