Biker seriously injured after collision with deer near Bodmin

Two people were taken to hospital and the animal sadly died at the scene

Two people have been injured after a motorbike collided with a deer near Bodmin.

The rider and pillion passenger were both taken to Treliske after it happened near Washaway and a man in his 30 is seriously hurt.

The animal died at the scene on Wednesday morning and the road was closed while officers went over the scene.

Anyone who saw what happened, or who has dashcam footage, is being asked to contact police.

A spokesperson for Devon & Cornwall Police said: "Police are seeking witnesses to a collision at Washaway, Bodmin, which left two people injured, one seriously.

"Emergency services were called at 10.40am on Wednesday 27th April after a yellow BMW R850 motorcycle was in collision with a deer on the B3266.

"Both the male rider and female pillion passenger sustained injuries and were taken to Treliske Hospital.

"The rider, a man in his 30s, sustained serious injuries and the passenger was treated for minor hand injuries.

"The deer died as a result of the collision.

"Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police Roads Policing team attended and the road was closed for one-and-a-half hours."

Police are seeking witnesses and appealing to anyone with information or relevant dash cam footage to contact them via 101@dc.police.uk or by telephone on 101, quoting log number 277 of 27 April.
