Parts of Cornwall have woken up to more snow after the Met Office issued a double weather warning.

The first yellow warning for snow and ice is in force until 11am on Thursday 9th February.

The second, covering most inland areas, will be in force from 9pm on Thursday until 11am on Friday.

An amber alert for cold weather in the Duchy remains in force until tomorrow (Friday 12th February) as Storm Darcy's bitter winds spark freezing conditions.

Travel Cornwall is among those sharing photos of light flurries in the Duchy on Thursday morning.

Another shows what could be snow or perhaps hail on cars in St Austell as drivers are being urged to take extra care on our roads.

What do the weather warnings say?

The first yellow weather warning for snow and ice is in force from midnight until 11am today (Thursday 9th February), covering most areas apart from the north coast.

The second will be in force from 9pm on Thursday until 11am on Friday and covers most inland areas of Cornwall.

A combination of light rain, snow and icy patches could bring some disruption to travel during Thursday night and Friday morning.

The Met Office says we can expect: Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services, some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces and probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

"Icy patches are likely to develop on some surfaces as showers spread from the English Channel into parts of south west England. Some places will miss these showers and remain dry. Where showers do occur inland they will fall as snow, especially over the hills and moors, and patchy accumulations of 1-2 cm snow are possible with a few centimetres of snow falling over parts of Dartmoor. Meanwhile, in coastal areas, showers are more likely to fall as a mixture of rain, sleet and snow and any accumulations of snow will be much smaller and patchier in nature.

"Outbreaks of rain and snow are likely to spread erratically east during Thursday night, bringing some small snow accumulations and icy patches, before conditions improve during Friday morning as temperatures rise and rain and snow eases. Snow will fall inland, with accumulations of 1-3 cm in places, most likely over Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor. Rain is more likely in coastal areas and more generally across western Cornwall. Some places may remain largely dry, but where rain, sleet and snow falls onto frozen surfaces, icy stretches are likely to form".
