Military personnel rush to help after two cars crash outside RNAS Culdrose

One person has been taken to hospital with minor injuries to be checked over

Military personnel have rushed to help following a crash outside RNAS Culdrose in Helston.

It happened just after 12pm on Tuesday (8th March) 12.10 today when two cars travelling towards the Lizard collided on the road outside the main gate.

Security and medical staff from the base helped the drivers and also marshalled the traffic.

Police have confirmed that one person has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A spokesman for RNAS Culdrose said: “Security and medical personnel from RNAS Culdrose acted swiftly to help the drivers after the crash on the main road.

"Military personnel helped marshal the traffic until the police arrived. We hope the drivers are ok.”

We're told traffic was able to divert through the bus lane at Culdrose.

A spokesperson for Devon & Cornwall Police added: "It’s a two vehicle collision – fire are moving the cars from the road now.

"One person taken to hospital with minor injuries to be checked over."
