Patient airlifted to hospital following reports of 'medical incident' near Cornish beach

Coastguard crews, paramedics and a rescue helicopter were all called to the scene

A patient has been airlifted to hospital following reports of a medical incident near a beach in west Cornwall.

The search and rescue helicopter from Newquay, paramedics, and the Land's End coastguard team were all called to the scene.

It happened in the Porthchapel area, near to Porthcurno, on Tuesday lunchtime.

A patient was taken to a local hospital but their condition is not yet known.

"Shortly after 1.30pm today (13 April), HM Coastguard’s Lands’ End Coastguard Rescue Team and the search and rescue helicopter from Newquay were requested by the South Western Ambulance Service to assist in a medical incident in Porthchapel.

"The helicopter transferred a patient to local hospital."
