Officers were called at 3.45pm on Tuesday, 15th of July, following a report of two men attacking a man and a woman in Lower Market Street, Penryn. The suspects were reportedly armed with poles and a taser.
Emergency services attended and found the two victims with various facial and head injuries. Both were taken to hospital and have since been discharged.
Armed officers attended an address in Penryn and arrested a man in his 30s from Penryn and a man in his 40s from Newquay on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Both suspects remain in police custody.
Detective Constable Richard Haycock of Devon and Cornwall Police said:
“This was a violent assault using weapons that took place in broad daylight in front of people who were going about their day-to-day business.
“It is believed the victims and the suspects were known to each other and as such, there is no wider threat to the public.
“That said, this was a vicious attack and we are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the incident who has not yet spoken to us to get in touch. We would also like to hear from anybody who may have filmed it on either their phones or on their dash-cam as they drove by.”
