Man suffers serious facial injuries following incident in St Austell

Police are looking to find a woman suspect in connection with the alleged burglary and assault

A man in his 60's suffered serious injuries to his face following an alleged burglary and assault in St Austell.

Devon and Cornwall Police are now appealing for witnesses following the incident which happened in the early hours of Tuesday 5 January.

Officers were called to an address in Trevithick Road at around 2.45am.

The occupant of the property, a man aged in his 60s, sustained serious facial injuries.

A 33-year-old man from St Austell has been charged with burglary, causing grievous bodily harm, and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place.

He appeared before Truro Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 7 January. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Truro Crown Court on 2 February.

Police enquiries are ongoing to locate a female suspect in connection with the incident.

She is described as being white, aged in her 20s, around 5ft 8in tall, with dark, curly hair which was tied up.

The female is also said to have rosy cheeks and a chubby face, and on one occasion was seen wearing an earring in her left ear.

Officers are appealing for information and for anyone who knows of her whereabouts to come forward.
