Man shot and another wounded with axe in Redruth assault

Two men are in hospital after a serious assault in Redruth.

Police were called to Drump Road at 6.30pm on Thursday 6th July to reports two men had sustained serious injuries.

One man has sustained a suspected gunshot wound to the back, which is currently being treated as life-threatening.

A second man has reportedly suffered a serious head injury after being assaulted with an axe.

A number of resources, including armed units and the police helicopter, remain in the area at this time and the incident is ongoing.

Detective Superintendent Jon Bancroft, Senior Investigating Officer, said: “Detectives and specialist officers are deployed to support our initial investigation and we will provide further information in due course.

“I would urge anyone with information which may assist our enquiries, including dash-cam and CCTV footage in the area, to get in touch and report it to us.”
