Attack in Newquay leaves a man with life-changing injuries

Police are investigating a serious assault in Newquay, that has left a man with life-changing injuries.

Officers say the casualty suffered serious lacerations to his face and arm after an incident at the Newquay Bay Resort at Trevelgue.

The 30-year-old was taken to Derriford on Friday 23rd September. His condition is described as stable.

Devon & Cornwall Police think the incident, that happened shortly before 1am, was isolated.

The force says enquiries are ongoing and they are appealing for witnesses, and anyone with dashcam footage, to come forward.

Statement from Devon & Cornwall Police

A force spokesperson said: "Police were called to reports of a serious assault at an address at Trevelgue, Newquay, at around 12.45am on Friday 23rd September.

"A 30-year-old man sustained serious lacerations to his arm and face and was taken to Derriford Hospital by ambulance with what are considered to be life changing injuries.

"His condition has been described as stable.

"This is believed to be an isolated incident.

"Officers attended the scene, where a police cordon has been put in place, and enquiries are ongoing".

Statement from Newquay Bay Resort

In a statement to Cornwall Live, Away Resorts said the incident occurred in a holiday home that was being let privately.

They said: "We are cooperating fully with the police and their enquiries".
