Man injured from 'falling lamppost' at St Austell Recycling Centre

The man was taken to hospital and his injuries are considered life-changing

A man's suffered life-changing injuries after an incident at St Austell Household Waste and Recycling Centre.

He was believed to have been hit by a falling lamppost on Sunday 18 August.

The centre in St Austell remains closed following the incident.

A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were notified following a report of an incident at a recycling plant in St Austell at around 8.50am on Sunday 18 August.

"It was reported a man had been hit by a falling lamppost.

"He was taken to hospital. His injuries are considered life-changing.

"The Health and Safety Executive has been informed. The site remains closed at present."
