A man has been evacuated after falling ill on a cruise ship off the coast of Falmouth.

The Coastguard tell us the vessel was brought to shore in an operation yesterday morning, when the alarm was raised.

The all-weather lifeboat picked up the man where he was passed into the care of the ambulance service.

In a statement from the Coastguard, they told us: "A male passenger who fell ill on a cruise ship off Falmouth was brought to shore in an operation coordinated by HM Coastguard on 15 July.

"The alarm was raised at about 7.20am. The RNLI's all-weather lifeboat from Falmouth was sent with a paramedic on board to meet the cruise ship.

"It picked up the man and brought him back to the lifeboat station where he was passed into the care of South Western Ambulance Service. Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team supported."
