A man has died following a private aircraft crash at Truro Airfield.

Emergency services were called to the scene yesterday (Sunday 3 September).

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were notified at around 3.20pm on Sunday 3 September to reports of an private aircraft crash at Truro Airfield.

"A single male occupant of the aircraft was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin were informed.

"The Air Accident Investigation Branch were notified and are investigating the incident."

A spokesperson for the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) said: "An accident in Truro was reported to the AAIB yesterday and we have deployed a team to start an investigation."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: "We were called at 15.08hrs on Sunday 3 September to an incident near Truro.

"The resources we sent included two double-crewed ambulances, an operations officer and a doctor."
